Fiona, my apology. A message from another commenter alerted me that some comments might be getting caught in the spam filter, and, alas, yours was one of them. Thanks so much for reading - and Julia thanks you especially. As a photographer, you might be interested to know that with the winter tracks shot, she spent a couple of hours waiting for someone to walk down the tracks, as people do at that point - as a photojournalist by training, she always prefers people in her shots - but finally had to give up and move on.

Firstly, thank you for linking me into your work (via Twitter). I am enjoying your blog very much and this post in particular left a big ache somewhere around the heart region. I love the photo of the winter tracks - please let Julia know there's another body out there that <3's her eye.

AJA!

May I just gush and have a nerd snort over your use of the word shibboleth? OK, thanks. Now back to the rest of the fun.

Wow. The brilliance of your words (& Julia's photography) quiets me. But this post really spoke to my heart and my being. I feel my life is a tiny microcosm of yours. I have a fraction of the ability, a fraction of the talent, a fraction of the intelligence, but my desire fills the sky, and I'm okay with where it's taking me. Thank you once again, for the inspiration.

how can I have a life like yours? where I get to travel all year round? unfortunately I don't have the income to make such a trip, but I hope one day I can travel the world. Very inspiring.
